Description
China, late 18th/early 19th century Coromandel lacquer and wood 12-leaf folding screen with double-sided decoration. The central section shows dignitaries, young women and children in a garden with trees, pavilions and kiosks, with various scenes taking place including offerings, a music lesson, children cooling off in a lake, young women arriving in a dragon junk, birds and flowering shrubs framing the main decoration, and movable objects at the ends. The reverse is decorated with a calligraphic poem in the centre, movable objects in the lower part and immortals in the upper part. Sheet size: 281 x 50 cm (Wear)
