CHINA, c. 1800 A pair of cloisonné enamel quails serving as incense burners. The birds are depicted standing upright, their spherical bodies resting on slender legs of patinated metal. The plumage is decorated with turquoise cloisonné enamel imitating feathers, with the eyes outlined and the beaks highlighted in black. The wings are removable, revealing compartments for use as incense burners. Dimensions: 13.5 cm (Knocks and wear)
