Description
CHRISTOFLE, ‘Peau de Lion’ model – Silver-plated cutlery; the grooved handle is fastened with palmette motifs featuring interlaced lion-skin designs; the spatula bears an engraved number. Signed and hallmarked.
Model created by Charles Rossigneux around 1870 for the Marquise de la Païva, a famous courtesan of the Second Empire. A similar piece is on display at the Musée d’Orsay.
