Description
CHRISTOFLE, ‘Peau de Lion’ range - A case containing 8 dessert cutlery sets and 18 coffee spoons in silver-plated metal, making a total of 34 pieces; the fluted handle is fastened with palmette motifs and decorated with interlaced lion’s pelt patterns, whilst the forks and spoons are gilded. (shows signs of wear). Model designed by Charles Rossigneux around 1870 for the Marquise de la Païva, a famous courtesan of the Second Empire. A similar set is on display at the Musée d’Orsay.
