A neo-Gothic silver chalice; the cup is decorated with flowers and foliage, embellished with turquoise beads; the base features three plaques with painted enamel designs, including Christ The base is a six-pointed star.
Engraved beneath the plinth is ‘M D to our beloved son on the day of his ordination as a priest, 21 December 1901’.
Minerva hallmark.

Note: this chalice belonged to Mr Maurice Deswartes, a priest, who died in Germany whilst a prisoner at Gardelegen in 1915.
