Description
PAIR OF VEGETABLE BOWLS WITH COATS OF ARMS
in silver. The circular bowls have side handles decorated with water leaves. The domed lids are topped with palmette and water leaf motifs. The acorn-shaped handle is engraved with stylised plant motifs.
Hallmarks: First rooster, 1st standard, Paris, 1798–1809, and silversmith’s mark: Jean-Pierre CHARPAT (registered in 1802, previously a master silversmith in 1782).
The bowls and lids are engraved with the combined coat of arms of Charles Boullet, known as Boullet de Varennes, and his wife, née Virginie de Bray (who married in 1817), beneath a count’s crown.
