Description
SELFISH JUG WITH COAT OF ARMS
In silver, baluster-shaped, decorated with friezes of water leaves and pearls. The plain body, resting on a circular pedestal, is engraved with a coat of arms (unidentified) beneath a count’s crown. The spout terminates in a lion’s head surrounded by foliage. The handle, made of blackened wood, is held in place by a bearded male face. The lid is edged with a gadrooned frieze.
Second cock hallmark, 1st standard, 1809–1819, and Paris hallmark. No silversmith’s hallmark.
