Description
A rare silver wedding PLAQUE or PENDANT, engraved with a foliage scroll motif, featuring figures in high relief: an allegorical female figure in the centre holding a child (a soul), surrounded by four cherubs holding attributes likely symbolising Virtue, divine protection, Justice, heavenly reward, fidelity, etc.
Several inscriptions are engraved: ‘IOCHIM BENA’, ‘ANGENATA BENA’ and the date ‘1634’.
Work attributable to the Southern Netherlands (Antwerp).
Dutch tax hallmark for foreign-made items. Dutch second-grade import hallmark (835/°°°).
