Attributed to JACOB, a rare, large, flat travelling desk, collapsible, made of solid mahogany and chenillé mahogany veneer,
opening at the front with three drawers without cross-bars and two large pull-out compartments on the sides;
original green leather top decorated with small gilded ironwork, resting on four magnificent splayed legs surmounted by faun heads and finished with clogs.
Empire period, Paris, c. 1805
Height: 78 cm, Width: 161 cm Depth: 84 cm
Probably presented to a general by Napoleon upon his return from a European military campaign.
