Note :
Etienne Marie Alfred Garnier (1848-1908) was a painter, engraver and enameller of the second half of the 19th century.
A pupil of Alexandre Cabanel, his works are rare on the market. He worked in his studio with the famous goldsmith and enameller Paul Grandhomme, Fernand Thesmar and Georges Jean. The Musée d'Orsay collections include six objects made by Alfred Garnier and Paul Grandhomme.
The bowl we are presenting, probably a unique piece, bears only Garnier's monogram and is one of the few surviving examples of his work.
