Description
Eugène PRINTZ (1889-1948)
Pair of modernist chairs in veneer and palm wood with an inverted backrest topped by a scrolled crossbar and recessed triangular solid armrests.
They rest on a sheath base at the front and are extended at the back on the backrest.
Modern upholstery covered with fabric decorated with black lines on a blue background

Note : Similar model exhibited at the XIXth Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in Paris in 1929
Provenance :
-Villa of Mr X. in Casablanca (Morocco). From an important decoration made by Eugène Printz in the 1930s.
This set also included a console table (or desk) of a model identical to the one conserved in the Palais de la Porte Dorée (Maréchal Lyautey's oval salon),
sold on 16 May 2017 in Paris (lot 108), and a lacquer panel by Jean Dunand, also sold in Paris on 19 March 2014.
