Description
MAUBROU Jean (1900–1965) – Curved stoneware jug with a glaze combining turquoise and oxblood red. Monogrammed ‘JM’ beneath the base. Height: 28.3 cm. A potter based in Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, Jean Maubrou founded a stoneware workshop in the 1920s. Drafted in 1939 and interned during the war, he let his workshop to Pierre Pigaglio (1944–1946), a period during which Jean Derval trained before moving to Vallauris. He subsequently resumed production until the workshop was bought by Georges Robin in 1958.
