Description
PEQUET Claudius (20th century) – An ovoid terracotta vase, wheel-thrown, with a slightly flared neck; the body is decorated with a painted design using enamels and underglaze engobes, including, within a circular cartouche, large green scrolls framing stylised red floral motifs. Signed ‘Pequet C.’ on the base and marked ‘Bourg’. Art Deco period, circa 1930. Height: 31 cm. Traces of a kiln attachment on the neck. Note: Claudius Péquet is documented as a potter in Viriat, near Bourg-en-Bresse, notably by the Archives de l’Ain, which hold photographs showing him at work on his potter’s wheel between 1930 and 1960. A museum entry also mentions a mould used by the potter Claudius Péquet, held at the Pays de l’Ain museums.
