COURSANGE (Manufacture de) – Earthenware orangeade jug, made of white clay with a matt white glaze on the outside and a glossy yellow glaze on the inside. Marked ‘PL France Orangeade’ on the base. Circa 1960. Height: 27.8 cm. Note: The Coursange earthenware factory, founded in 1889 in Le Poët-Laval by Jules Coursanges, evolved from producing majolica to becoming a diversified business before closing in 1939. Relaunched in 1943, it became a major centre of industry, employing up to 130 workers and training a generation of ceramists, including Jacques Pouchain.
