Description
BIZETTE-LINDET André (1906–1998) – Repoussé copper plaque with a maritime motif featuring longships, fish and a sun in a stylised design. Mounted on a panel. Signed in the bottom left-hand corner of the composition. Dimensions: 63 × 36.5 cm. A small dent in the lower left-hand corner. Note: Winner of the Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1930, André Bizette-Lindet was appointed Official Painter to the Navy in 1947. He pursued a career spanning both painting and sculpture and carried out several public commissions, notably as part of the reconstruction of Saint-Malo. He was the brother of the painter Françoise Bizette.
