Description
PASSILLÉ-SYLVESTRE Micheline (born 1946) & SYLVESTRE Yves (1932–2008) - Enamelled copper trinket bowl decorated with a stylised marine fish on an orange background. Signed and marked ‘Ste Adèle’. Diameter 17 cm. Note: The Quebec-based enamelling duo De Passillé-Sylvestre, comprising Micheline de Passillé (born 1936) and Yves Sylvestre (1932–2008), occupies an important place in the history of Canadian arts and crafts. Active mainly in the 1960s and 1970s, they developed a body of work in copper enamel that combined technical innovation with large-scale production. Their work was the subject of the exhibition *De Passillé-Sylvestre, Copper Enamellers* at MUMAQ – the Musée des métiers d’art du Québec, dedicated to their major contribution to the revival of enamelling in Quebec and their role in raising the profile of the arts of fire in Canada. Their creations are now held in several Canadian public collections.
