SÉVELLEC Jim-Eugène (1897–1971) & Henriot Quimper (manufacturer) – A pair of polychrome earthenware bookends depicting two fishermen at work, shown in the midst of exertion. Marked ‘Henriot Quimper’ and ‘J. E. Sévellec’. Circa 1930. Model referenced in *L’Encyclopédie des céramiques de Quimper*, volume 5, p. 368, under the heading ‘Appuie-livres Marins’. H.: 15 cm; W.: 18 cm. (Small glaze jumps). Note: Jim-Eugène Sévellec, a painter and ceramist originally from Camaret-sur-Mer, collaborated with the Henriot factory in Quimper, for which he created numerous designs inspired by Breton and maritime life; the Quimper Earthenware Museum dedicated an exhibition to him in 2012.
