Description
FOUILLEN Paul (1899–1958) & HB Henriot (Publisher) – Polychrome earthenware tobacco jar in the shape of a Breton man in traditional dress. Signed ‘HB Henriot Quimper’. A contemporary edition of a design created around 1925 by Paul Fouillen; a similar design is reproduced on p. 21 of the catalogue for the exhibition ‘Paul Fouillen, faïencier quimpérois, Maurice Fouillen, held at the Musée de la Faïence in Quimper in 2015. Height: 11 cm. Note: Paul Fouillen, an artist and ceramist from Quimper, collaborated with the HB factory before developing his own range of work characterised by Art Deco stylisation and Breton themes; the Quimper Earthenware Museum dedicated an exhibition to him and his son Maurice Fouillen in 2015.
