Description
BAUDOUIN Jean Paul (born 1946) – An ovoid ceramic vase with a flared neck, featuring large patches of white porcelain engobe and decorated with a fantastical design combining figures and symbols such as a triskelion. Signed on the reverse and beneath the base, and dated (19)99. Height: 25 cm. Note: Jean Paul Baudouin is an artist based in Trentemoult, near Nantes. His work spans ceramics, painting, wood carving and welded metal. Close in spirit to Art Brut, though not institutionally affiliated with it, he has developed a personal universe populated by totemic figures, characters and free-form shapes, where popular references and primitive imagination intersect.
