Description
PARESSANT Jules (1917–2001) – Drawing on paper in black and red felt-tip pen, a preparatory sketch for the exhibition at the Galerie du Vieil Océan in La Baule in 2000. Monogrammed in the lower left-hand corner and dated 2000. D. 50.5 cm x 32.5 cm. Note: Jules Paressant (1917–2001) was a painter and sculptor who was born and died in Nantes. A former student of the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes, he went on to teach sculpture there. He took part in numerous regional exhibitions, notably the Salons des Artistes de l’Ouest. He received several public commissions, notably for religious works and commemorative monuments, such as *Les Otages*, installed at the Bêle shooting range in Nantes. His works are held in public collections, including that of the Nantes Museum of Art.
