Description
TIFFOCHE Gustave (1930–2011) – Circular mirror with a turned stoneware frame, stamped with a geometric frieze. Marked with the monogram ‘GT’. 1980s. D. cm. (A chip in the glaze on the reverse). Note: Gustave Tiffoche trained in ceramics at the Château de Ratilly, under the guidance of the Pierlot couple. He also spent time at La Borne, a reference which can be found on some of his pieces. He subsequently set up his studio in Guérande. Alongside his artistic practice, he worked as a teacher. Specialising in stoneware, he also produced a few pieces in celadon-glazed porcelain in the late 1980s. He fulfilled several public commissions, notably for fountains, such as those at Le Croisic and in the Parc de la Beaujoire in Nantes. From the 1990s to the 2000s, he gradually devoted himself more to painting. An exhibition dedicated to this artist from Guérande was held at the Porte Saint-Michel, Guérande Museum, from 25 November 2023 to 22 September 2024.
