Description
CASENOVE Pierre (born 1943) & Manufacture de Lunéville – A large earthenware dish with blue-grey glaze, the handles featuring stylised foxes. Unsigned; pieces from this series usually bore a label mentioning the Manufacture de Lunéville and Pierre Casenove, which is missing from this example. Circa 2000. L. 50 cm. Condition: one handle broken and reattached at the base. Note: Born in 1943 in Céret (Pyrénées-Orientales), Pierre Casenove is a French ceramicist and visual artist, trained at the Beaux-Arts and active in the fields of ceramics, design and the decorative arts. In addition to his own work, he has collaborated with several French manufacturers and publishers, notably Fondica for bronze, Jars in the Drôme for stoneware, the Manufacture de Lunéville for earthenware, and Artésia in Limoges for porcelain. One of his porcelain creations is held in the collections of the Adrien Dubouché National Museum in Limoges.
