MOLNÁR Vera (Budapest, 1924 – Paris, 2023) – Tango 74. A work based on digital compositions created in 1974 on computers at the University Computing Centre in Orsay. Printed on paper and tracing paper by Setig Jacques Palussière, Angers. Each sheet features two geometric shapes in dialogue, following a principle of variation and movement characteristic of the artist’s research into programming and computer-generated imagery. Signed and numbered 88/200. Dimensions: 15 x 40 cm. (Slight wear to the corners of the canvas cover.) Note: Vera Molnár, who settled in Paris in 1947, is considered one of the pioneers of generative art and the use of computers in artistic creation. The Centre Pompidou dedicated the retrospective exhibition *Parler à l’œil* to her, running from 28 February to 26 August 2024. A few months before her death, the artist was still pursuing her digital research, notably with the series *Themes and Variations*, created in collaboration with Martin Grasser and presented by Sotheby’s in 2023.
