Description
DAVID LANGE (manufacture) (in the style of) – Coffee table, with an X-shaped Plexiglas base featuring a chrome-plated metal crossbar, and a glass top. Circa 1980. H. 42 cm, W. 120 cm, W. 80 cm. Note: Founded in the late 1960s by Anne-Marie David and Paul Lange, designers fascinated by transparent materials, the David Lange workshop emerged from the vibrant Parisian scene of experimental design. As early as 1972, the presentation of furniture made from PMMA (Plexiglas®, Altuglas®) at the Salon des Ateliers d’arts de France met with immediate and unprecedented success. Taken over that same year by Jacques Devaux, the brand established an industrial structure and, within a few years, became a major player in the field of transparent furniture in France. Passed on to several successive leaders, it continued its technological development, notably with Daquacryl®, patented in 2005. Recognised as an ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’ (Living Heritage Company) in 2020, David Lange is now committed to an eco-responsible and heritage-focused approach.
