Description
LES ISLETTES (Meuse), Chapelle du Bois d’Epense. A collection of 14 exhibition posters, dating from 1992 to 2008. H. 40 cm – W. 30 cm (except for two larger ones). Mainly focusing on ceramics (Islettes earthenware, ‘Hommage à Luneville’, ‘festive dishes’, ‘Orient’, ‘floral motifs’, ‘under Louis XVI’), but also antique books (‘The Book in the 18th Century’) and other collectables. These themed summer exhibitions (June–September) were organised by two major collectors, Messrs Jacques Jouêtre and Henri Martin, at their estate in Bois d’Epense – the site of the former Islettes pottery works (in the commune of Sainte-Menehould) – drawing on their personal collections. Thanks to their donation to the Château de Lunéville Museum, this unusual venue became, in 2019, the ‘Les Islettes Earthenware Interpretation Centre’, and finally houses their ‘imaginary museum’
