Vladimir PRECLICK. Preclick-Paraboles. Geneva: Rousseau, 1973. Unpaginated (in sections, 92 pages + 2 lithographs). In an unbleached canvas slipcase lined with ‘kraft’ paper, with an unbleached canvas cord, all housed in a black-painted wooden sculptural box with a rounded top and six ‘feet’ at the bottom, decorated with three horizontal wave-shaped bands of painted wood (pink, purple, green) and a small pebble with a hole in it glued to the front. Dimensions: 40 x 39.5 x 6.3 cm (sculptural box) / 29.5 x 28.5 cm (folder) / 39 x 28 cm (notebooks). First edition, limited to 75 copies, numbered and signed (copy no. 54). Very good condition: a slight damp smell due to having been enclosed in the box. Rare book-sculpture by Vladimir Preclik (1929–2008), a Czech sculptor; cracks in the slipcase. Artist’s book (book-object) created by Jean Petit (1927–1999), known, amongst other things, for his works on Le Corbusier. [The book is composed as follows: 52 illustrations (including 5 double-page spreads) in black, white on black, black and red, red, green, black, red and blue, and black and pink, + 7 pages of black-and-white photographs (5 pages featuring 21 sculptures from 1959 to 1969 and 2 portraits of the artist), + 2 pages of black-and-white drawings (sculpture studies), + 18 pages of text, 8 of which include drawings in the margins, + 10 blank pages.
