Description
Barbara DELFOSSE (1939-2009) Orange and black stoneware dish (unsigned) Diameter: 13 cm BARBARA DELFOSSE (1939-2009) Celebrated as one of the pioneers of the ceramic revival in La Borne, Barbara Delfosse, née Geneviève, moved to the village shortly after her studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Beaune. After an initial period working with Pierre Digan, she began pursuing an independent artistic career in 1973. In her studio, she creates pieces in clay highlighted by guilloches, engraved and incised repetitive motifs whose nuances are revealed by gas and then wood firing. The result is mirrors, boxes and light fittings that have made her famous in France and around the world. Marked by her independence, her life and work are deeply rooted in working with clay.
