Description
MONTMOLLIN, Daniel de (born in 1921) in TAIZÉ, Workshop Flared stoneware bowl with black speckled glazed decoration and silver inlays forming flower holders or candle holders. ‘Taizé’ stamped in relief beneath the base. Diam.: 16cm – H.: 5cm Born in 1921 in Switzerland, Daniel de Montmollin, known as Brother Daniel, was one of the founders of the Taizé Community in 1942. He discovered pottery in 1949 whilst working alongside Alexandre Kostanda, before the latter left for Vallauris, and subsequently joined the pottery workshop within the ecumenical community. He is particularly renowned for his glazes made from plant ash enriched with oxides.
