Description
VIETNAM, Thanh Ley workshops, 20th century Large glazed stoneware vase Baluster-shaped, the circular body topped by a cylindrical neck flared at the opening, with polychrome decoration of Chinese sages playing go outside, the neck and feet decorated with floral scroll motifs, flanked by handles in the form of green enamelled dragon heads. A Bien Hoa two-character stamp under the base. With lacquered wooden base signed Thanh Ley. Height: 46.5 cm Diameter: 33 cm Provenance: Private Parisian collection assembled by Mr and Mrs X, Paymaster General at the French Consulate General in Saigon in the 1960s. Works acquired in Vietnam, some directly from artists who were friends of the family. The collection has remained in the family to this day. H: 46.5 cm - Ø: 33 cm
