Description
VIETNAM, 20th century Lacquer side table The rectangular top rests on four tapered legs ending in brass sabots, with a side pedestal forming a built-in storage unit. The whole is black lacquered, the top of the pedestal decorated with a geometric design in polychrome lacquer and inlaid with eggshell and mother-of-pearl. 50 x 40 x 90 cm Provenance: Private Parisian collection assembled by Mr and Mrs X, Paymaster General at the French Consulate in Saigon in the 1960s. Works acquired in Vietnam, some directly from artists who were friends of the family. The collection has remained in the family to this day.
