Charles CATTEAU (1880–1966) and KERAMIS. A large stoneware vase decorated with a black octopus against a sea-green background. Signed on the reverse and stamped. “Ch. Catteau D1695 with black enamel on the reverse, bearing the Keramis wolf stamp ‘made in Belgium’ and incised with ‘Grès Keramis 1168 C’, along with a Passard frères label from Montluçon”. Circa 1930. H.: 22 cm. Note: A rare design by Charles Catteau; a similar piece sold in 2007 at Christie’s for 20,650 euros and in 2009 at Pierre Bergé for 16,500 euros.
