A young soldier, mouth open, head bare, And the nape of his neck bathed in cool blue watercress, Sleeps; he lies stretched out in the grass, beneath the open sky, Pale in his green bed where light rains down. With his feet amongst the gladioli, he sleeps. Smiling as A sick child might smile, he takes a nap: Nature, rock him gently: he is cold. The scents do not make his nostrils quiver; He sleeps in the sunshine, his hand resting on his chest, Serene. He has two red holes in his right side. Expert: Emmanuel Eyraud
