CLAUDE PREVOST (1934–2013) ARTIST AND DESIGNER – THE EDITION ATTRIBUTED TO PIERRE CARDIN ‘Untitled’, circa 1975, most likely a one-off piece An exceptional large sculptural armchair. The two-part base, comprising a rear plinth and seat support, is made of black-lacquered wood. The seat shell is upholstered in plant fibres of various colours, arranged, assembled and sewn to form curvilinear, polychrome patterns. Signed ‘Claude PREVOST’ on a fabric label on the front of the plinth. H. 97 cm W. 105 cm D. 95 cm Shows signs of wear; snags on the back of the plant fibre backrest; chips in the lacquer and cracks in the lacquered wooden base. Important: Seats by Claude Prevost, very similar to this piece, were installed in his famous Maison Bulles (built in Théoule-sur-Mer in 1975) by Pierre Cardin. Provenance: X. Collection, Puy-de-Dôme.
