Jean HÉLION (1904-1987) Sonate pour les toits, 1962 Oil on canvas Monogrammed and dated "62" lower right Countersigned, titled and dated "Janvier 62" on the back. Daniel Besseiche gallery label on the back. 73 x 91.5 cm. This work is included and reproduced in the artist's catalogue raisonné, which can be consulted online. Exhibitions : - 1965: London, "Jean Hélion", The Leicester Galleries - not reproduced in the catalogue, no. 34. - 1970-71: "Hélion, dix ans de peinture", travelling exhibition - reproduced in the catalogue in black and white, p. 18. These roofs and their footbridge were an important part of the artist's creative activity between 1958 and 1962.
