Mende helmet mask, Sierra Leone
The headdress is formed of four separate plaited sections featuring linear and triangular motifs, topped by a bun; a broad forehead surmounts a small face with half-closed eyes, the corners of the eyes and cheeks adorned with cruciform scarifications; two openings on either side of the headdress.
