Burmese Kinnari Wood with traces of polychromy and gilding, inlays Burma, Mandalay, 18th century H. 94 cm This figure, carved from wood, gilded with gold leaf and inlaid with coloured glass mosaics, depicts a Kinnari, a celestial deity from the Buddhist pantheon in her half-human, half-bird form. She wears a tall, conical gilded tiara and large, ornate earrings. She is clad in a loose-fitting garment with flared sleeves, inlaid with small coloured glass pieces. (In good overall condition despite visible wear and traces of gilding)
