Anjenu" statuette in heavy hardwood with dark patina and kaolin highlights, depicting a hieratic female figure seated on a stool. The body with its prominent umbilicus is entirely painted, the face is scarified with fine interiorised features, and the hair is in a high plaited bun. Cracks and splits, repairs and missing base. These altar figures are dedicated to the spirits of nature, particularly river water.
