A RARE PAIR OF MOULDED QINGBAI 'PHOENIX' DISHES
Northern Song Dynasty
Each crisply moulded in shallow relief to the interior with a pair of phoenix in flight amongst flowers, bordered by three tiers of overlapping petals below a keyfret band around the interior of the short flared sides, all under a light blue translucent glaze of bright tone, the plain underside and base glazed, the rim unglazed showing the porcelaneous body burnt orange in the firing.
Each 15 cm (5 7/8 in.) diam. (2).
