A FAHUA-GLAZED BARREL-SHAPED GARDEN SEAT
Ming Dynasty, 16th century
With a central band separated by a pair of applied lion-mask handles, decorated in vibrant yellow, green, white and blue enamels against a bright turquoise ground with phoenix amidst flowering peonies and rocks, all outlined in raised slip, between with two rows of turquoises bosses against a dark blue ground around the base and top, the domed top with top with a central lotus flower surrounded by four lotus leaves reserved on a dark blue ground.
