Two volumes, in-12 (16 x 10 cm), with a frontispiece, (2) folios, 326 pages, (1) folios – title page, 178 pages, (23) folios, 148 pp., (1) f., full contemporary bindings in marbled calfskin. Smooth, decorated and gilt spines bearing the titles and volume numbers in gilt on patches of old red morocco, triple gilt fillet around the covers, gilt fillet on the edges, red edges. Traces of worm damage on the front and back covers, marks where ex-libris vignettes were once attached visible; interior fresh.
History of Ignatius of Loyola and the Society of Jesus, under the pseudonym Hercule Rasiel de Selva. The ‘Anticoton’ is generally attributed to César de Plaix. The ‘Historical and Critical Dissertation’ is by Prosper Marchand.
