IN PARIS, FROM THE ROYAL PRINTING OFFICE, 1781, (1) folio, 116 pp., one large fold-out table, two folded colour maps, TITLE: MODEST OBSERVATIONS BY A CITIZEN, on Mr Necker’s financial operations, & on his Report, addressed to the peaceful authors of *Les Comment*, *Les Pourquoi*, & other anonymous pamphlets, pp. 63–115 – TITLE: THE COMMENTS; pp. 35–52 – LETTER FROM THE MARQUIS DE CARACCIOLI TO MR D’ALEMBERT, pp. 1–24 – PETITION TO THE KING concerning Mr Necker’s retirement, by a former resident at the French Court: pp. 55–60, full contemporary binding in marbled calfskin. Spine with five highly decorated and gilded raised bands bearing the title engraved on a piece of old red morocco leather, gilded fillets on the edges, marbled edges. A fine, complete copy including both folding colour plates and the large, repeatedly folded table.
