MATTON, Gabriel PASQUALINI (1931 - 2008)
"The calculator with love luggage". Watercolour, Indian ink and collage on paper, 1978, 43.5 x 58.5 cm and 47.5 x 68.5 cm with hand-printed frame, monogrammed in ink "G.P" lower left and stamped (2) with the monogram and date (78).
Charles MATTON (1931-2008) also known by the pseudonym Gabriel PASQUALINI: "I must understand the causes of these brainwaves". (Note 1952). Françoise Sagan praised his "violent charm". His grave is covered with a mirror reflecting the sky.
Provenance: A close collaborator of Daniel Filipacchi (born 1928), for whom Matton illustrated hundreds of pages in the thirty or so magazines of the Filipacchi group, including : Paris Match, Elle, Playboy...
