Rug – Tibet (1880–1930)
A thick wool carpet, hand-woven and hand-knotted in Tibet, featuring a majestic, stylised imperial dragon holding a flaming pearl; it rises from symbolic clouds and Lishui (the primordial waters) from which the three sacred peaks emerge. The Dragon is the guardian of sacred values; he pursues the luminous pearl, a symbol of happiness, abundance, wisdom and knowledge for its owner.
