Note:
Conceived around 1919, *Fatigue* forms part of Cecil Howard’s explorations of the human figure and bodily expression. The crouched pose, the face thrown back and the synthetic construction of the forms convey, with great economy of means, the state of exhaustion suggested by the title. The model featured as early as 1925 amongst the works exhibited by Howard in the United States.
