Brouillet, René – Two-page typewritten letter signed by René Brouillet – Two-page typewritten letter dated 15 March 1982 and signed by René Brouillet, concerning an exhibition on André Malraux: ‘Need I tell you, in the same spirit of loyalty to the memory of our late great Master, how deeply I appreciate your thoughtfulness, and to assure you likewise that my assistance, should it be required, is entirely at your disposal… You will, however, see that, to my deep regret, I am unable to fulfil the request… my dealings with André Malraux both in 1944–1945 and 1958–1961, whilst I was serving under General de Gaulle… of letters signed by the Minister in his official capacity and, as such, belonging in the archives…”. Note: René Brouillet (1909–1992) was a French diplomat and member of the Resistance. A member of the Resistance and a collaborator of Georges Bidault, he served on the National Council of the Resistance. Following the Liberation, he became Chief of Staff to General de Gaulle, and subsequently served in the Office of the President of the Republic between 1958 and 1961. He also served as an ambassador and as a member of the Constitutional Council.
