Devaux, Pierre – La Reine Mère – here, copy number 31 of 75, printed on Savoy vellum, containing a series of insert illustrations, an original black-and-white drawing (here, a signed colour watercolour) and a handwritten page from the original manuscript, all in a slipcase. Illustrations by the author, published by Pierre Trémois, 1945, in-8° paperback, illustrated cover. In a slipcase and box (slightly damaged at the top). The ten plates are hand-coloured by Vairel; total print run of 686; a very fine copy. Pierre Devaux (1901–1966) was a French writer, playwright, journalist, painter and illustrator, known for his use of slang in his works. He was a sports reporter for *Le Canard enchaîné* and the creator of an ‘argot’ column in *Le Crapouillot* in 1939.
