Max CLAUDET (1840–1893), sculptor. Autograph letter, Salins, 4 May 1874, to a critic; 1 page, in-8. He thanks him for having mentioned him amongst the talented artists. ...‘ ‘This year, I wanted to try my hand at a truly realistic work, by placing my man with the pig as close to the jury as possible; I’ve given him a nice curl. My marble winegrower was accepted more readily thanks to its small size’. He mentions Max BUCHON’s widow, who ‘has two children. Poor Buchon! He was quickly mourned and forgotten – and for whom? For a solicitor!’...
