Description
Franz LISZT (1811–1886). Signed autograph MUSICAL MANUSCRIPT, 14 June 1845; 1 oblong in-4 page (slight browning). A fine album leaf, dated ‘Besançon 14 June 45’: Allegretto for piano, 9 bars, in A flat major. This short piece appears to be unpublished; we have not found it amongst Liszt’s works; it is reminiscent of other, longer ‘album leaves’ written by Liszt around the same time and published: for Gustave Dubousquet in 1841, ‘in the form of a waltz’ in Hamburg in 1842; ‘to Mrs Kalergis’ in St Petersburg in 1843. [The piece was premiered by Catherine Joly on 22 May 1986 in Besançon (documentation attached).
