Marie-Thérèse-Sophie Richard de Ruffey, Marquise de MONNIER, known as Sophie MONNIER (1754–1789). Letter from the sender (L.A.S.) ‘Richard Mise de Monnier’, 25 June [1780, to Mr BOUCHER]; ¾ page in-4 with a red wax seal bearing her monogram.
Letter written shortly after the death, on 23 May, of Gabrielle-Sophie, the daughter of Mirabeau and Sophie Monnier. [Boucher, ‘le Bon Ange’, was responsible for Sophie’s correspondence with Mirabeau, who was imprisoned at Vincennes].
Her daughter’s guardian is requesting a death certificate: ‘this event is not known in Pontarlier, and anything done until he can declare and prove it will be null and void’; she therefore insists on obtaining it.
