Description
Aimée RAPIN (1869–1956), ‘Still Life with Tulips’, dry pastel on paper, signed lower right.
H. 50 x 33 cm
Background: ‘Aimée Rapin was born in Payerne in 1868. Deprived of her arms from birth, she had learnt to use her feet skilfully. In 1892, she moved to Geneva and remained there until her death on 5 May 1956. A former pupil of Meyenburg, Bischoff and Barthélémy Menn, she had earned the highest of reputations thanks to the sensitivity of her painting, which was rich in subtle shades rather than bold colours.” Payerne Museum.
